GOLF-ITALY CANDIDATE TO HOST RYDER CUP

USPA NEWS - Italy formally launched its bid to host international golf's Ryder Cup in 2022 on Thursday as it presented its bid documents at Wentworth in England.
The decision as to which country will play host to the tournament, expected in be held in October that year, will be made by the European golfing federation.
Italy has proposed the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club near Rome and is in competition with Austria, Germany and Spain.
On its website, the Ryder Cup organization said that key criteria for its decision will include "demonstrable government, political, institutional and golfing community support".
The Ryder Cup is a biennial men's golf competition between a team from Europe and a team from the United States.
The event, established in 1927, is jointly administered by the Professional Golfers' Association of America and Ryder Cup Europe.
